Call for Paper: “The European Council as a transformative force”

We are looking for interested Bachelor or Master students (focusing on European Union politics) that would like to contribute to our project by a short paper on the European Council.

TRACK is a Jean Monnet project on the European Council run by the Center for Turkey and European Union Studies of Prof Wolfgang Wessels at the University of Cologne. The EU-funded project aims to enhance knowledge on the European Council as a key institution of the European Union.

We are looking for interested Bachelor or Master students (focusing on European Union politics) that would like to contribute to our project by a short paper on the European Council.

The paper should address the overarching topic “the European Council as a transformative force” and especially focus on the European Council’s role during the negotiations on the multi-annual financial framework 2021-2027 as well as during the corona crisis.

The length of the paper should not exceed 5 pages.

The paper will be published on our website and contributed to our project network and international partner universities. Our network consists of high-level experts as well as practitioners as inter alia former president of the European Council Herman van Rompuy.

Please send a short letter of motivation including information on your academic background to Lea Hopp (lea.hoppSpamProtectionuni-koeln.de) at latest until 18 December 2020.

The selection results will be communicated by 8 January 2020.

The final paper is to be handed in until the end of February 2021.

The paper will be reviewed by Prof Dr. Wolfgang Wessels.
